Two teams in Berlin and Bamberg have worked for several years to produce this comprehensive reference work on the teaching of ancient languages.
For the first time, it consistently combines Latin studies, Greek studies and the pegagogy of classical languages. In addition, findings from other disciplines important to the teaching of Latin and Greek have been incorporated and always placed in relation to the teaching of ancient languages. The innovative concept is also reflected in the co-operation between the editors, who each represent subject pedagogy and subject science. 79 renowned authors from universities, teacher training programmes and schools deal with the central topics of classical language teaching in 111 lemmas. These include not only educational goals, differentiation, digitalisation, humanism, interpretation, language and reading lessons, translation, practice, lesson planning and vocabulary work, but also articles on all current school authors based on the latest scientific and didactic research. The lemmas offer compact contributions as well as the opportunity to discuss central areas in a broader context. A detailed index with additional keywords facilitates detailed searches.
