Teaching Material Collection
The Didactics of Ancient Languages programme’s collection of teaching materials is a unique resource in its own right in Germany: in addition to all current German textbooks for Latin and Ancient Greek, alongside a large part of the school text editions and reading books published after 1945, it also includes a selection of Latin textbooks from other European and non-European countries, historical wall maps, and pictures, as well as a sizeable amount of children's and youth literature relating to antiquity. In addition, we provide a collection of relics such as Roman clothing and ancient children's games for use in the classroom. In conjunction with a basic library comprising the most important didactic publications of the past decades, the most important resources for dealing with ancient language didactics are available for consultation and use in one’s university studies, practical training in schools, and for general research.
In particular, the collection includes:
- Textbooks (textbooks, exercise books, school grammars, differentiated / graded instruction materials, copy templates)
- School text editions and “readers”
- Historical and international textbooks
- Materials for teaching ancient languages in adult education
- Children's and youth literature relating to antiquity
- Non-fiction (non-fiction books, historical clothing, games, etc.)
- Specialised didactic literature, including current journals
- General literature of pedagogy of teaching
- Education studies literature
