Greek Language and Literature
Ancient Greek Language and Literature concerns itself with the entirety of Greek literature from Homer through late antiquity as a subject of classroom instruction as well as research. It predominantly takes a literary studies approach. Its focus lies especially on the canonical authors of the 5th and 4th centuries BC who are studied in European humanistic gymnasia or classical high schools. In addition, technical texts, philosophy and Christian texts are present in the curriculum, as are courses on epigraphy, papyrology and codicology.
The literary reception and transformation of these texts is the focus of courses in the Master of European Literatures programme.
