B.A. Latin, with or without teaching qualification (“Lehramt”)

The bachelor’s programme in Latin has three main areas of focus:

  • Mastery in Latin and the competence to critically reflect on it;
  • Intensive study of Latin literature, especially from the late Republic and early Imperial period, as well as its transmission in antiquity and post-antiquity;
  • Knowledge of ancient (especially Roman) culture and history.

The B.A. Latin can be pursued either with the goal earning a teaching qualification (“Lehramt”), or as a normal university major without a teaching qualification. Both study tracks are offered as a major or minor subject
