Research Training Group ‘Philosophy, Science and the Sciences’

This Research Training Group is devoted to the dialogue between different forms and models of knowledge in ancient Greek, Roman and Arabic philosophy and science. As an interdisciplinary programme, it brings together philosophers, classicists, Arabists and historians of science. It is funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and started in October 2014.

Der Transfer medizinischer Episteme in den ‘enzyklopädischen’ Sammelwerken der Spätantike

The aim of this project, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, is to study the role of late antique encyclopaedias in the transmission of medical knowledge, and to compare and relate them to the transmission of medical ideas in Jewish literature.

The aim of this project, funded by the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften, is to provide critical editions with translation and commentary of a number of major works by Galen of Pergamum, to be published as part of the series Corpus Medicorum Graecorum (CMG).

August-Boeckh-Antikezentrum (2005 - 2021)

The August-Boeckh-Antikezentrum (ABAZ) initiated and co-ordinated interdisciplinary activities and projects (in research and teaching) in Ancient Studies and neighbouring disciplines within the Humboldt University. On 01.01.2022 the ABAZ was integrated into the Berliner Antike-Kolleg.
