Introductory language course: Graecum
The two-semester intensive course (8 SWS each) for the acquisition of Ancient Greek is primarily aimed at students of Classical Philology at the HU. Students in the BA Ancient Greek programme who have yet to demonstrate knowledge of Greek equivalent to the “Graecum” at the beginning of their studies must attend the two-semester propaedeutic course, which ends with a Graecum-equivalent examination. HU students of other subjects are also welcome if their study regulations require proof of Graecum-equivalent knowledge of Greek or a module in Ancient Greek (especially archaeology students; for theology students, the Faculty of Theology has separate courses). In view of the heavy workload during the lecture period, only those who are able to devote a considerable part of their study time over two semesters to learning Greek can successfully participate.
