Associate Professor (Reader) in Classics, Durham University

 

Born in 1971. He studied Classics and General Linguistics at the Universities of Freiburg (Germany), Oxford (UK) and Heidelberg (Germany). M.A. and ‘First State’s Exam’ in 1996. 1996-97: Research Fellow at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague (Czech Republic). 1997-2000: Research Fellow of the “Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)”. Ph.D. in 2000 (University of Heidelberg). 2000-01: Research Fellow at the University of Exeter (UK). Since 2002 Assistant Professor of Classics at the Humboldt University of Berlin. "Habilitation" during Winter Term 2008/09.
In addition, Fellow of the “European-American Young Scholars’ Institute” (Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung & Andrew Mellon Foundation) for 2003 and 2004. Sept. 2005 – May 2006: Fellow of the “Center for Hellenic Studies” (Washington, D.C.). Sept. 2007 – August 2008: Feodor Lynen Fellow (Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung, Bonn) at the University of California Los Angeles (Department of Classics). Oct. 2008 - March 2009: Visiting Professorship at the University of Konstanz. Since January 2010: Durham University (Department of Classics & Ancient History).
